Located in the heartland, you can find GTM Sportswear’s main headquarters in Manhattan, Riley County,
Kansas. No, it is not the middle of nowhere! Manhattan, population around 53,000, is home to a variety of
businesses and establishments including Kansas State University, a
Division I public university, and nearby Fort Riley, a United States
Army installation and home to the “Big Red One”. Throughout the economic hardship of recent years, Manhattan
has continued to grow and expand, adding 16% growth to their population since the census of 2000. Manhattan
is not only the fastest growing metro in Kansas, but Riley County is ranked among the top-20 counties in the
nation for economic growth right now! Click here to see more stats.
Manhattan, nicknamed “The Little Apple”, has a multi-faceted culture influenced by local agriculture,
Fort Riley, and nearby cities such as Topeka, Kansas’s capitol, and
Kansas City, a bustling urban center with a rich history
in jazz music and barbecue. 24,000 college students keep the Manhattan night life buzzing and help fuel a
downtown shopping, restaurant, and bar district appropriately named
“Aggieville”.
The City of Manhattan’s recent growth has not subtracted from
its small-town-feel and rural beauty, however. Local communities such as Wamego
and natural attractions like Tuttle Creek Lake
and the Konza Prairie help maintain Manhattan’s “urban-but-rural” aura.
Manhattan’s public school district, Manhattan-Ogden USD 383, is an accredited
district and serves approximately 6,500 students in the area. Other schools in the area include the
Riley County School District, and Flint Hills Christian School.
